When I listen to "Thousands are Sailing" I get chills all over. This tune has been able to reach deep inside me. It brings me some understanding of what it must have been like to be an immigrant making a dangerous journey with a heart full of hope that a new, better life is awaiting.
The book "The Warmth of Other Suns" describes the journeys that African Americans to find better opportunities. My life has been improved by songs and books like these ones.
