Leo Pollard took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as a member of the Jesuit Order. He never got to travel to foreign lands which was a little unusual for a Jesuit. What he did do was live a life devoted to serving others and being a friend. I think of him when I recite to myself the poem written by Sam W. Foss which has this line "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man".
