Miguel Rosales, a Guatemala native who got his masters in architecture at MIT, was the lead architect on the Zakim Bridge. I'm a big fan of the new bridge and (since I'm a part of a Guatemalan family) like the Guatemala connection. I've worked in middle schools and at Somerville High and it's impressive to me that Mr. Rosales makes time to patiently explain to high school students the process of designing bridges. The young people whose lives he has helped to enrich will never forget his patient instruction.
