Tim O'Brien left a peaceful paradise (Worthington, Minnesota) and landed in Southeast Asia. His orders were to kill. He is an inspirational figure to me because he has transformed these painful years of his life into fine books.
I will be writing more about this brilliant man after I reread his fantastic account of the war called "The Things They Carried".
