Race and Culture

Thanks to Sonia Manzano I am writing this entry. She tells the story of being a young girl and having a neighbor who was Puerto Rican and black. She learned the difference between race and culture when she tried to speak Spanish to another black lady thinking she would understand. I had a similar experience in Guatemala many years ago when I would think that the whites there would know English. Nice to know that I wasn't the only one who didn't understand the difference between race and culture.
