Bend Knees in the AM

I read somewhere that it will help me stay sober if "I bend my knees in the AM so I don't bend my elbow in the PM."

Seven Continent Club

There are a few intrepid souls who have run marathons on all seven continents. After I finished my first and only marathon in 2008, one wiseguy said to me, "Only six more continents to go!".

Bittersweet Taste of Boston Marathon

I witnessed the joy of a Marine with one leg crossing the finish line at the Boston Marathon yesterday. And I saw people praying at the wreaths left to memorialize the places where four people died in 2013. One person I ran into on Marathon Monday had witnessed the carnage and tragedy that happened there four years ago. As the final runners were slowly trickling in around 5pm she said, "I was here four years ago, I'm glad to be leaving now."

Daily Celebration of Sobriety

In one 12 step support group the members celebrate their sobriety daily by eating a devil dog. I like this because it highlights the simplicity of the notion of not taking one drink for one day. Once the mission is accomplished it's time for a devil dog!

More Coffee

I feel a little funny right now but a cup of java will hit the spot. The weather is bad today and a cuppa joe will lift my spirits.

Inspiration

Posting today just to keep up the habit of doing it. I try not to think too much about whteher I should write a post. Sometimes the best thing is to just do it!
